Tinnitus

Facts
Tinnitus is the perception of sound within the human ear in the absence of corresponding external sound. It is usually described as a constant ringing, buzzing or whistling noise in your ear. The noise can vary in volume and intensity. Tinnitus is not a disease, but a symptom resulting from a hearing disorder of some kind.

Cause
The most common cause for tinnitus is exposure to high-intensity sound, especially over a long period of time. Sadly, there is yet no cure for tinnitus, only ways to try to reduce its effects. Basically, if you get tinnitus, you have to learn to live with it.

Statistics
Tinnitus is becoming to be a public hazard. Approximately 50 million Americans suffer from some kind of tinnitus, 12 millions severally. Studies show that the number of seven year olds suffering from temporary or permanent tinnitus has increased heavily, from 12% to 60 % in 7 years.

Everyday noise
In the old days, the industry was to be blamed for harming people’s hearing due to heavy loud noises. Nowadays, the “everyday noise” in today’s society is considered to be a major villain. Your ears never sleep, and you can never shut them off. The need for protection is essential.

The essential
There is no cure against tinnitus. Once you have it, you’ve got it – for life. And the only way to fight tinnitus is to use earplugs when spending time in high volume and noisy environments.
